Surroundings
The cottages are in
a secure garden, going through a small gate you can go down into the
Glen to explore, the woods near the cottages are blanketed with
bluebells, there is a picnic area in the garden and tables and chairs on
the terrace outside the cottages, we also have chairs on the balcony
where visitors can enjoy the last of the evening sun, visitors can walk
in our fields and enjoy the tremendous views of the Trossachs, Ben
Lomond and the
Campsies, in Spring time the fields are full of ewes and
lambs.
Local Area
There are a few small villages in the local area, the closest are (a few
minutes by car)
Killearn and Fintry. Both of these are good for shops,
pubs and restaurants. There is
Glengoyne distillery near Killearn where
visitors can learn about the history of distilling and of course sample
this excellent product.
Of
course the big attraction about this area is that you are just a few
minutes from The
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and also
the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park with all that they have to offer. (see
the links below).
Below
you will find some very useful links, representing just a very few of
the dozens of interesting places and things to do. The links include,
eating at the nearby restaurant in
Culcreugh Castle in Fintry, visiting
the Lomond Shores Visitor centre at Balloch a short car journey away.
Also the villages of
Fintry and Killearn,
David Marshall lodge, the visitors centre for the Queen Elizabeth Forest
Park, Blair Drummond Safari park, a short journey by car, Going Ape at
Aberfoyle. Stirling is only 35 minutes away and has a lot to offer,
including bowling, cinemas, restaurants but also if you go to Stirling
you must visit Stirling Castle and the Wallace monument.
